Recovery

It's been a while since I posted about my recovery and I'm so delighted to say I have been back in the water a few more times now catching waves on the long board and just cruising. I decides to pull out the old faithful "pinky" and she hasn't been letting me down.
I've been eating healthy and training hard - each day consists of my stretching programme and either a 2 hour gym session or a 50 length swim. Work mixed in between of course and the surfs! I honestly feel so blessed to be doing what I'm doing and my faith in God and the support from all my family and friends has been so instrumental in my recovery. Plus of course Garry Nimmo's expertise. Here's a snap of pinky and me at the gym :)

Enterprise North East

I was so honoured to be asked to speak at Connect 4 for North Enertprise Business Week in Aberdeen. I was incredibly nervous but prepared my speech and headed to Robert Gordon's University for the presentation. George Yule and Gary McKeowan also spoke and the event was hosted by the lovely Kirstin Grove. I'm glad to say it went really well and speaking in a lecture hall is another one off the list! I quoted Eleanor  Roosevelt in my speech and never a truer sentence has been spoken "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams"
Here are some snaps of the event and publicity beforehand :)

Summer's coming!

Thanks so much to O'Neill UK for all my amazing new summer wetties and threads. Everything looks so amazing and I can't wait to have some fun in the summer sun. Lots of swimming in the sea and building back my strength I'm thinking. Check out www.oneill.com for all the summer 2014 collection. It's rad!

NYC Baby!

So it's been a while since I last posted. I've been spending a whole lot of time in the gym and pool rehabbing to the max! Decided to take a we're break from all the hard work and jetted of to NYC with my sis to take some time out. Still kept up my AIS stretching everyday but it was nice to have some sightseeing time, catch ups with old friends and shopping time.
Here's a few snaps from the trip...
Lets go Knicks! Amazing basketball game at Madison Square Gardens!

First time in the water 2014

So after nailing myself at la graviere whilst living in Hossegor and being helicoptered off to Bayonne hospital back in July last year, a nasty car smash in November and 3 stints in hospital, I was literally an emotional wreck and feeling so blessed when I ventured into the water for the first time in 6 months on the 8th of January 2014!
I bruised my spinal cord and tore the c7 nerves in my neck in the initial surf accident. The car crash just added to the injuries but I was one lucky lady. There have been so many ups and downs and I am planning to make a video blog of my training and the trauma I've gone through  getting back to this stage.
It's taught me so much and continues to do so. Never take a day in your life for granted. I feel so blessed that I am still here and I know someone greater than me has been watching over me. I have to say a massive thank you to all my family, friends, the surgeons, doctors, nurses and my amazing trainer Garry who have been amazing throughout everything. I love you and appreciate you all so much ❤ onwards and upwards for 2014!
